Update for 12/2019OPTION 1: Chrome Developer ToolsChrome's built-in user-agent switcher has moved several times, but it seems to have stayed in one place for the past few years. As of the time of writing, here's how you get it:. Open DevTools: hit F12 or right-click and select 'Inspect.' . Open the drawer (the bottom pane) if it is not already open: hit Esc.

Go to the 'Network conditions' panel. (You may need to click the ⋮ menu button on the left to view a list of all available panels.).

Next to 'User agent,' deselect 'Select automatically.' .

Here are several that are up-to-date, and well-reviewed as of the time of writing:.Google also offers its own user-agent extension for Chrome (which does apparently work in some other chromium browsers, ):.A few notes on this last option: Although Google's UA switcher extension was updated only a few months ago (as of 12/19), reviews indicate that it might be somewhat out of touch when it comes to current browsers. It may also cause performance issues if you leave it enabled all the time. That said, this extension does work, and it is overall positively reviewed, so it could be a viable option if you want a convenient, albeit simple, UA switcher for Chrome.

Thanks Dan/hardys,Well, the converter worked well, and the app installed easily.Then a 'default user agent' option appears in the Tool menu, which gives 7 choices (3 IEs, 3 bots, and an iphone 3). If I'm doing it right, I just click on one and it should be activated. That being the case none of them do the job. (Of course, it could be a completely unrelated issue.) Firefox shows the options I'm trying to see (4 icons/link on the top of the page that send the user to other parts of the site), even before I installed the switcher on it (so that I could get access to more options on Instagram). SeaMonkey recognizes the links, in some sense, because moving the cursor over the space where they should appear changes the cursor from an arrow to a pointing finger, and back, 4 times. And I have a pretty good idea of where which icon is in the space, so it's not a majour problem.

That being the case none of them do the job.You are surprised that a iPhone 3 (released in 2008!) user agent or IE6 UA doesn't work? This is an old extension with an even older list of UA strings in it by default.You need to step back, read up so that you understand how these things work and then add some far newer UA strings to it. You can download a list of hundreds of user agents from here: (from 2017)If you want a list of the most resent User Agents you can copy the code and save it as xml file and then import it into the extension.Code.
